EXCITING NEWS FROM EYESIGHT ASSOCIATES!
Introducing the Alcon ReSTOR 3.0 – The Intraocular lens with the greatest range of uncorrected vision ever! Until recently, life without reading glasses or bifocals was not an option for most patients. Now it is!
The new ReSTOR lens, with a +3.0 D add power for near vision, represents another incredible advance in helping patients reduce their dependence on glasses. The first ReSTOR lens was marketed in 2005 and was the number one choice of eye surgeons for the correction of presbyopia in cataract and lensectomy surgery. The FDA approved this updated version of the ReSTOR lens in late December 2008. In January of 2009 we became the third practice in the United States to implant the ReSTOR 3.0. Dr. Gayton has taught numerous surgeons all over the nation how to improve their results with this and other intraocular lenses. After months of stable, excellent results we are now letting everyone know about this exciting opportunity to enjoy life with less need for glasses.
The ReSTOR +3.0 offers some advantages over the original model by allowing patients a more comfortable reading distance, improved intermediate vision for tasks such as computer work, and excellent distance vision. The results from the FDA clinical studies show that the percentage of patients who achieved 20/20 vision at all three distances with the AcrySof ReSTOR +3.0 lens was nearly four times greater than the percentage of patients who received the original ReSTOR lens. Over 95 percent of the patients receiving the new ReSTOR +3.0 lens were pleased with the overall performance of the lens and said they would choose to have it implanted again.
How does the ReSTOR 3.0 lens work? As we perform daily activities such as reading, watching television or working at the computer, our eyes are constantly focusing on objects at varying distances. The ability to quickly change focus throughout this range of vision is called accommodation. Unfortunately, this ability diminishes as we grow older, causing us to become dependent on bifocals or reading glasses. The ReSTOR 3.0 lens was designed to provide quality near and distance vision without the eye having to accommodate. Similar technology has been used for years in microscopes and telescopes to improve image quality, and has now been patented for use in intraocular lenses by the world’s largest intraocular lens company, Alcon. These lenses enable patients to have two clear points of focus at all times, similar to a bifocal, without having to move your head or eyes.
The ReSTOR 3.0 is another way that Eyesight Associates offers “world class eyecare, with a caring touch.” For more information on the ReSTOR 3.0 intraocular lens or to see what else is available at Eyesight Associates please call us at 478-923-5872 or email us at questions@eyesightassociates.com.
