Most people develop cataracts in both eyes at around the same rate, but the pace of cataract progression varies from individual to individual. This particular patient had cataract surgery on one eye with a Tecnis Multifocal lens to improve her uncorrected vision. Since the other eye did not have a cataract that was ready for removal, LASEK surgery was done to improve her distance vision in that eye.
